Sliman Mansour and Håkon Gullvåg: Situations.
The exhibition Situations presents artworks by the Palestinian Sliman Mansour and the Norwegian Håkon Gullvåg, two of the foremost contemporary artists from their respective countries. Although both are involved in extensive exhibition activity, nationally as well as internationally, this is the first time they have exhibited together. Their artistic expressions are quite different, yet several points of contact can be found, not least, a shared interest in social problems.
This exhibition is not only an encounter between two artists; it is also a meeting between two municipalities and two countries. The exhibition catalogue documents this friendship through mutual greetings from the ministers of culture of Palestine and Norway and the mayors of Ramallah and Trondheim.
The art exhibition, Sliman Mansour and Håkon Gullvåg: Situations, is a collaborative project between the sister cities of Trondheim and Ramallah. It was presented in Ramallah in connection with Ramallah municipality’s centennial jubilee in April 2008, and opened 27th of July in the Archbishop’s Palace in Trondheim during the St. Olav Festival 2008. |
