Restoration plan 1999 - 2001
Following the recommendation of the Nidaros Cathedral status report that was submitted in 1996, a restoration plan, or agenda, has been drawn up for the entire church. The plan assumes that a pilot project will be initiated in 1999-2001 to allow a more detailed work schedule to be implemented if Parliament approves of the work in 2001.
Half of the pilot project's expenses during the two first years have been funded by the EU's Rafael programme. Through this project the Restoration Workshop of Nidaros Cathedral – NDR – has formed a good network linking professionals and professional communities in Northern Europe. Experiences gained through the pilot project will be used in the work to be continued in the years to come. A number of measures to refurbish technical facilities and repair the chancel are planned before the Anniversary of the Crowning in 2006. |
