The Army Museum and the Resistance Museum
The idea of an Armoury – which we now call the Army Museum – stems from the fortifications and castles of the Middle Ages. This is the room in which swords, coats of mail and, later, guns were kept and repaired. The Army Museum dates back to the historic armoury that was established in 1826 in the East Wing of the Archbishop's Palace. Thus the Army Museum is one of the oldest museums in Norway.
Over the years the Army Museum has been located in various parts of the Archbishop's Palace. After the large restoration work during the 1950s and 1960s the current exhibition premises in the Artillery Store and the Weight House were opened in 1968. Today the Army Museum also houses the Resistance Museum, with emphasis on the military history of Trøndelag.

The Army Museum has its own website: http://www.mil.no/rustkammeret/
