Grenaderen Restaurant
Just outside the precinct walls of the Archbishop's Palace, down toward the south and the River Nid lies the old saddler's and gunsmith's workshop. This was constructed during the 1700s, when the Archbishop's Palace was used as a large warehouse for stockpiling military supplies for the northern regions of Norway. At the time the Archbishop's Palace was called the King's Manor, and some of the buildings housing activities with attendant fire hazards were located some distance from the military supplies, where stores such as powder were kept.

The original saddler's and gunsmith's workshop served many functions over the centuries. Now, since 1968 the building has housed a popular restaurant.
