Today's parish
Nidaros Cathedral's Parish is the proper name for what is commonly called the Cathedral parish. The parish includes the southern section of downtown Trondheim, and borders on the parish of the Church of Our Lady. To the east the border is the river Nid. The borough of Øya is part of the parish, bordering on the parish of Tempe. An overview of the streets that are part of the parish can be obtained from the parish office. A total of 4 400 parishioners are members of the Norwegian State Church.

The parish of Nidaros Cathedral is currently merged with Our Lady parish, with offices in Waisenhuset (the Orphanage), the large red wooden building facing the West Front. Day-to-day parish activities are managed by the Head of the Parish Office, who is the immediate superior for all employees except ministers.
The Cathedral parish comprises four ministers, one deacon, church musicians/conductors, a sexton, vergers/cleaners, church wardens, four administrators and one parish social worker. With a total of 29 employees in these positions, this is the largest parish staff in the Norwegian State Church.

Nidaros Cathedral's parish also cooperates with the student minister service (two ministers), Kirkens Bymisjon (The Church's Urban Mission) (two ministers) and Trondhjems Hospital (one minister), all of whom use the Cathedral or the Church of Our Lady for their services.
The Parish Council
Nidaros Cathedral's parish council is elected by the parishioners, and directs activities in accordance with the provisions of the Norwegian Churches Act. The parish council has ten members and five deputy members. The chairman for 2000-2001 is Stie von Krogh, tel.: +47 73 93 69 75.
