 Accessibility

We aim to make our facilities as accessible as possible for our visitors with disabilities. Unfortunately in some instances this can lead to difficulties as our medieval buildings are of such an age that necessary adjustments prove challenging.

The western entrances of Nidaros Cathedral feature ramps, allowing for easy access to the Cathedral and onwards to the Octagon/High Alter in the east. Unfortunately it is not possible to gain access to the octagon or the Chapter House with a wheelchair. In the nave, by the Steinmeyer Organ, there is a lift, which leads you down to the Cathedral’s basement, where a disabled toilet is located. A wheelchair is available to visitors requiring one courtesy of Nidaros Cathedral. Feel free to contact the staff by the entrance should you need it.

The visitor centre by the Cathedral, where you can find the box office, the gift shop and the café, is fully accessible for wheelchair users and also has a disabled toilet

Please contact a member of staff for guidance or call us on (+47) 73 89 08 00 (the phone is served between 9am and 3pm) if you have any questions. We are always happy to help.
