On the evening of St. Olav's Day, a pilgrimage service is held for pilgrims from afar and people from Trondheim, where they walk the last kilometers to Nidaros Cathedral from the east and from the west.

At 8:00 p.m. two walks start: At Sverresborg Church Center and at Lade Church, and at approximately 9:30 p.m., the walkers meet at The Church of Our Lady. In the pilgrimage service, we move slowly and thoughtfully through the summer evening towards the vigil in Nidaros Cathedral. We follow in the footsteps of a long line of walkers who have sought the same path before us, pilgrims through many centuries. We encounter stories from the life and history of Saint Olav, and we will see how they lead us to get to know God better. We alternate between pilgrimage hymns, silence and prayer stations. Like all pilgrim walkers before us, we will also feel the walk in our feet. We may be tired before we reach the goal of tonight's walk. But it can be good, once in a while, to believe with our feet in this way! Reflection along the way can also help us see our entire life journey in perspective.
