The event includes a workshop part with movement invitations and guided sound exploration followed by an open jam - a space where you participate as much as you like and alter between listening, observing, moving and creating. Open event for everyone with and without dance experience. Musicians are very welcome to join and to bring their own instruments. The event will be held in English and Norwegian. It is a free event supported by Norsk Kulturfond and Kirkens Bymisjon. Doors open 15 minutes before the event and will be closed by the start of the event.

ImproDans Trondheim wants to offer an open, free, and safe space for movement and sound exploration and a playful approach to improvisation.Bio: Knut Størdal is Music director in Vår Frue – Open church in Trondheim. Vår Frue is open every day all year around for people who need a cup of coffee, a warm space, a chat, a cultural event or just a moment of silence. Knut plays several times a week on “everyday prayers” (short services), and improvisation (on piano and organ) is an important aspect in this setting. During the everyday services there is always lighting of candles, and it’s important that the music in this setting gives space for meditation and reflection. Knut also teaches liturgical playing and organ improvisation at NTNU.

Anna Thu Schmidt is a dance artist with a focus on dance improvisation, interdisciplinary projects, site-specific work, and integrated dance. Anna holds B.A. in Dance in Education (ArtEZ University of the Arts Arnhem/Netherlands) and M.A. in Dance Studies (NTNU Trondheim/ Norway).
