Nidaros Cathedral's Cellar and Crypt

16.00 - 16.45Take a guided walk through the cellar and crypt beneath Nidaros Cathedral. The gravestone crypt is home to Norway's largest collection of medieval gravestones — some of which can be traced to known individuals, while others remain a mystery. From the crypt, we move on to the cellar, an area not normally open to the public. Among the highlights is a skeleton dating from the second half of the 11th century.
Practical Information
- The tour is in English.
- Minimum age: 8 years. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
- The cellar passages are narrow, and is not recommended for those with claustrophobia.
- Tickets include access to the cathedral.
- NB: Places are limited.
- The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.
- The cellar is accessed by stairs and has very narrow corridors. As a result, the venue is not accessible to people who use wheelchairs.
- Please meet at the Visitor Centre (the glass building next to Nidaros Cathedral) before the tour begins.
In the film Troll 2, some scenes are set in Nidaros Cathedral and its cellar. Please note that the cellar scenes were not filmed in the actual cellar.
